Thank you to all who participate in our first ever Eco Water Walk, it was a huge success! We had many classes participating, the Eco club members and families (150 people strong!) walking down to the lake. The students experienced first hand what it was like to fetch and bring back water. They now have a better understanding of why it is important to fight for clean water access for everyone. Well done!

Our next event is Earth Hour, we will be powering down in our classrooms on Friday, March 29th between 2-3 pm. You can participate in this event at home on Saturday night, March 30th from 8:30-9:30 pm., with the whole world! Check out www.earthhour.org for more info.

The Willy Eco Club has been working extremely hard to prepare for our first ever Willy Water Week!

Please come and check out the displays and activities that the students have created on the first floor Wednesday and Thursday before (8:15 am – 8:35 am) and after school (3:15 pm – 3:30 pm).

World Water Day is around the corner and the Eco Club has been preparing an exciting Willy Water Week to educate and celebrate with the whole school. Special events will take place the week of March 18th to 22nd. The Eco Club members will also be experiencing a water walk, much like many children do to collect water for their families. For the walk, the students will be carrying  buckets of all shapes and sizes, if you have any buckets to donate, lend and share, please bring them to Room 13. Labelled buckets with names and room numbers will be returned. Stay tuned for more details.

Eco Club Water Inquiry has reached the brainstorming and planning stages. Look at all the fantastic ideas the students came up with! Next, we will narrow down our ideas and begin our projects.

Throughout the school year, the Eco Club members work on many different projects like campaigns such as Bike to School Week or educating their fellow classmates as lunch time waste monitors.

Currently, as a whole team, we are working on a water inquiry. Since water is essential for life, we have decided to launch an investigation to determine the importance of water, the human impact on our water sources and how we can help the environment. To begin this inquiry, we are starting with a little learning. We are watching videos and reading books to better inform our project. Next, we will create a plan of action. Stay tuned to see how this project develops!
