Raising Resilient Kids Workshop: May 2nd 6:30pm

Our children’s lives will be full of challenges. How can we foster and strengthen their resilience and allow them to recover from life’s twists and turns?

Join us THURSDAY MAY 2ND (LIBRARY, 6:30PM) for this FREE workshop hosted by Vivian Pengelly and learn some tools to support our children through their struggle without controlling or overprotecting them. This is an evening not to be missed.

Refreshments and childcare will be provided. RSVP not required.

The council takes great pride in providing these special engagements for our Willy community. We would not have the opportunity to offer these events without the continued support of our families’ donations. Thank you!

2019 Dance-a-thon FAQ

For those of you who are unfamiliar with this awesome fundraiser, here are some FAQs.

What is a dance-a-thon? It is one of Willy’s most popular events. It is a fun day of dancing and movement activities.

When does it take place? Friday, April 5th, 2019

Where does it take place? All day, classes with their teachers, rotate through the Glen Ames gym where the DJ is set up to play music for their designated time slot.

What kind of music is played? We hire a DJ who plays current, age appropriate music (clean versions!). This is a DJ that does this kind of event at many of the schools in our area and has been to our school over the past few years as well.  Make music requests online at www.musicrequest.ca

What do I need to do?  This is a fundraising event; watch your inbox for the cashless notification for donations. If you are fundraising, pledge envelopes are available in the office.

How can I donate? You can make a donation using the TDSB School Cash Online system, or donate on-line at www.professorjamz.com/williamson

What to wear? Be sure to wear your best dancing clothes (white clothes glow in the dark!) and comfortable shoes.  And don’t forget, bring a water bottle!

What are the funds used for? They will be used to support music, arts, science, and more at the school.  Last year we raised almost $3,500!  There will be a prize to the class that raises the most fundraising dollars.

Can I volunteer to help? Yes. Email us.

03/26 – Willy Eco Club News

Thank you to all who participate in our first ever Eco Water Walk, it was a huge success! We had many classes participating, the Eco club members and families (150 people strong!) walking down to the lake. The students experienced first hand what it was like to fetch and bring back water. They now have a better understanding of why it is important to fight for clean water access for everyone. Well done!

Our next event is Earth Hour, we will be powering down in our classrooms on Friday, March 29th between 2-3 pm. You can participate in this event at home on Saturday night, March 30th from 8:30-9:30 pm., with the whole world! Check out www.earthhour.org for more info.

2019-20 Budget Community Survey

This is a friendly reminder from the TDSB that you have one week left to participate in the 2019-20 Budget Community Survey. The survey is open to everyone – parents, guardians, students, staff and community members – to share feedback on how money is spent and resources are aligned to best support all students at the Toronto District School Board. This information will help Trustees make decisions regarding the upcoming budget.

The survey was originally sent to all parents and guardians across the TDSB on Thursday, March 7, 2019.

Deadline to participate is Tuesday, April 2, 2019.
